John Baart MA VetMB MRCVS

Dr. John Baart MA VetMB MRCVS

I qualified as a Veterinary Surgeon in 1984 from Cambridge University and became a partner with Priory Vets in 1991 treating all species of animals. I now work entirely on the equine side of the practice having sold the partnership to Steve Carter who is now Priory’s sole owner. This has allowed me to concentrate on clinical work making myself as widely available as possible to all our clients. Equine practice remains an exciting challenge even after 30years experience with our knowledge constantly expanding and diagnostic tools becoming ever more sophisticated. At the end of the day whether you have a geriatric thelwell pony or a string of race horses it’s the chance to make a difference with enthusiastic committed clients that makes my day’s work such a pleasure.

Dr. Joe Sharps BVetMed MRCVS

Joe returned to the Priory Equine team as one of our senior vets in May 2016. He has extensive experience, having spent his career dedicated to all things equine, from old ponies to Olympians. Joe enjoys dealing with every aspect of equine medicine, in particular poor performance, dentistry, respiratory disease, opthalmology and welfare cases. Joe is always on hand for friendly, professional advice and looks forward to meeting you all and providing your horses, our patients, with the very highest standard of veterinary care.

Luna graduated as a vet in Spain in 2009. As part of her veterinary training she undertook an equine specialization year in France where she covered all fields of equine veterinary medicine. After completing an equine and farm animal internship at Cambridge University in 2010 she joined a busy sports medicine practice in Hampshire for 4 years. In 2014 she joined Priory Vets. Since then Luna has been focused on prevention of disease and enhancing wellbeing and performance. Luna is our Veterinary Acupuncturist across the practice and also performs Laser therapy on horses and small animals. In 2015 she took over the REACT allergy clinic from retired equine vet Mike Burrell MRCVS, and now travels all over the country treating horses with this technique for allergy control.

Dr. Amy Coleman MA VetMB MRCVS

Amy graduated from Cambridge in 2013 and after spending a summer travelling the USA took up a permanent position in a mixed practice in Yorkshire. She then completed an internship at the Cambridge Equine Hospital in order to further develop her interest in equine medicine and surgery. After completion of her internship, Amy returned to equine practice and first came to Priory in January 2016 to cover some holidays. She liked it so much that she moved here permanently at the start of April and is very much enjoying life in Surrey along with her cat and young thoroughbred mare.

After a few months in Pennsylvania he went on to start an internship in Barcelona Equine Hospital University in 2015, where he has gained great knowledge in equine medicine and surgery, as well as in anaesthesia. He joined Priory Veterinary Surgeons in January of 2017 to start a new adventure. His areas of focus are lameness and poor performance.
