Welcome to Nikki Saunders
I grew up in Dorking so know this area well. Horses and dogs have always been a large part of my life.
I came to Priory Vets as a student throughout my time at vet school and have now come back as an employee.
I graduated from Bristol University in 2008 and worked as a locum in various practices across the South West doing a mix of small animal and equine work for 7 months.
Following this, I began a year long internship at the Royal Veterinary College Equine Referral Hospital in Potters Bar.
During this year I was responsible for inpatient care, including time in the foal intensive care unit, assisting the surgical and medicine teams, seeing many interesting and complicated cases, and anaesthetising horses for both routine operations and emergency surgery in the middle of the night.
I was also involved in teaching and supervising final year students. A part of the job that I thoroughly enjoyed was equine anaesthesia. This is an interest which I am able to continue to pursue at Priory Vets.
I am currently working towards my Certificate of Advanced Veterinary Practice in Equine Practice.
